Swazi Skunk came from South Africa, where its potent, seedless bud was originally called ‘Skunk’ locally, though it has nothing to do with the Indica/Sativa Skunk hybrids of Europe and should not be confused with it. This plant was derived from seed stock in Swaziland and has never been hybridized, only exclusively inbred and adapted for indoor use.
Swazi Skunk has a very strong odor that resembles the smell of a fine cigar. The smoke tastes very down to earth, and a licorice aftertaste like Durban strains. The high is very cerebral, clear-headed, and alert. It is a good daytime smoker that won’t put you to sleep or make you lazy.
Swazi Skunk’s appearance is strictly all-Sativa, characterized by the Sativa height, appearance, growth patterns and the cerebral high. Swazi Skunk can grow to be between 4 to 6 feet indoors as well as up to 14 feet outdoors depending on the growing time and conditions. Like other Sativas it has extensive side branching, large and fan leaves, and also compact, sticky, resinous buds covered in hairs. When it is grown outdoors to its full size, Swazi Skunk will have colas the size and length of a typical adult’s forearm. When grown indoors the best Swazi Skunk plants will yield buds up to 8 inches long.
To get the best growing results outdoors, this strain prefers equatorial conditions which is warm days between 70 and 90 degrees F, as well as at least 5 months of no frost so it can grow to its full potential and produce the best yields. It can also grow in short and cooler summer climates, but it will not grow as large and the yields will be diminished. To get the best results indoors make sure you have an ebb and flow hydroponics system.
