SAGE is an acronym for Sativa Afghani Genetic Equilibrium, but is also a great description of the smell of this wild hybrid. SAGE’s mother was a native Californian strain called Big Sur Holy, which is a Sativa with a long finishing time, but has strong mold and great bug resistance. SAGE’s father was a fat Afghani Indica strain specifically selected for its extreme characteristics, like hardiness, tight internodal structure, and a fast finishing time, as well as grown from seed for cross breeding.
SAGE has vigorous growth, beautiful leaves, a straight growth pattern, along with the hefty weight of her Afghani parent. The high is reminiscent of a good Sativa high, that is always satisfying with repeated use. SAGE is a refreshing equilibrium combining the best of both sides, enabling it to deal well with challenging growing conditions, and is typically the last plant standing in a stressed garden. SAGE will keep its color and resist mite infestation.
SAGE’s flavor reminds you of old school bud, like Colombian and Thai strains that were worshiped back in the day. The aroma is almost exactly like wild sage native to the Sativa mother’s California homeland. The fresh smell makes SAGE great for the stealth grower, not easily giving away its source. Even without a carbon filter, trained noses may not recognize the smell as marijuana.
SAGE will bounce back quickly with topping techniques as well works good with the bending technique due to the branches having the rubbery qualities of the Afghani father. It likes to grow large so it will do well where there is lots of space for it flourish, but isn’t so suitable for the sea of green growing method.
Hashish made from this strain won first place in the 1999 Cannabis Cup and has been scientifically analyzed by an unaffiliated testing facility reported that SAGE has a THC content of over 20 percent. It ranked in the top 3 varieties tested.
