Federation bought Romulan in 1996 as a complete marijuana strain attempting to rescue it from extinction. Romulan was brought from California to British Columbia in the 1970 by a Vietnam war veteran where it was then grown on Vancouver Island. People joked about the high ‘denting your head’ in the sense that it would produce ridge like the Romulan in Star Trek.

Federation received Romulan in the form of clones as an entirely female strain. They then crossed it with a White Rhino male, which was a Cannabis Cup prizewinner at the time, they then back-crossed Romulan 11 times to stabilize the marijuana strain at a 97% pure Romulan marijuana hybrid. Federation Seed Company chose the biggest, most robust marijuana plants over the fastest finishing plants even though the finishing remained at around 8 weeks, which is still fairly good. Romulan seeds are homogeneous and as a result have greatly improved robustness and higher yield as a result.

Romulan is purple-stemmed and branches extensively so it isn’t very suitable for a sea of green garden. Romulan should be grown in a garden that is setup to take advantage of its multiple branching and several budding sites. Romulan is a completely Indica strain that is very short and bushy, with dark green colored leaves and thick, dense buds. Romulan still has a moderate yield, but it’s high is something that you definitely notice, Romulan has claimed the title of Federation’s most potent strain by not losing any of its head-denting capabilities. When grown outdoors, Romulan will yield around a half a pound of dense nuggets per each fully grown plant. The buds prefer a drier climate because they are so dense that they have some susceptibility to mold.

Romulan has a very potent high that is most likely going to lock you to your couch and your remote control. Don’t try to focus when high on this marijuana strain as it will be pretty much impossible, and due to the strong high Romulan is very good at treating chronic pain. Romulan is loved as much as ever in British Columbia, but also has a very devoted fan base existing in Texas.
