During the late 80s, people imported the famous purple strains, because they were very popular among marijuana smokers, but didn’t grow well in Northern European regions. New Purple Power was developed so that European growers can grow the purple strains successfully in cold and wet climates, like Northern Europe.
Like other outdoor marijuana strains, New Purple Power loves lots of sun and warmth, but will thrive well even in not-so-reliable Dutch weather. Its appearance is of a classic Sativa, it has long stems that are purple from the beginning, and the leaves have numerous, long, thin fingers. Budding sites on this plant are plentiful making for great yields.
New Purple Power is a good producer that grows purple and become a darker shade of purple when finished in a cooler growing environment. It can reach over 6 feet tall in greenhouses and in southern climates, but average only about 5 feet in temperate climates.
New Purple Power has a mild, and very distinct sweet and sour smell sort of like a sour candy. It has a tropical taste that is sweeter than its smell. The smoke is mild, easy on the lungs and has very little expansion. The buzz from New Purple Power is upbeat and clear. Many people like to smoke it during the day since it leaves you awake, functional and with a good buzz.
New Purple Power is a winner of the High Times Cannabis Cup 1998.
