Pot of Gold is a stable hybrid of a Hindu Kush female and a Skunk #1 male. The Hindu Kush strain Flying Dutchman used in creating Pot of Gold was a very long maintained pure marijuana strain that originated from mountain ranges in Afghanistan. The Skunk #1 male that they used was a combination of a Mexican, Colombian, and pure Afghani cross. In 1985 both of Pot of Gold’s parents came from California to Holland in the hands of a legendary cannabis breeder and enthusiast.
Pot of Gold turns into a medium to dark green as it matures and forms very dense buds with only a few leaves that look between a Sativa or Indica shape. The plant will reach a medium height and have a thick canopy. If you trim the lower branches the majority of the buds will concentrate closer to the light to increase your total yield. The buds and leaves are very resinous due to this strains Afghan heritage, making it perfect material for some high quality hashish. Flying Dutchmen says you should grow Pot of Gold in a complete organic growing setup. Watch the humidity and make sure there is plenty of airflow, because this plant has such dense bud formations it is always susceptible to mold.
The high from Pot of Gold is particularly rewarding and a very intense high with a sweet hashish smell and hashy taste that resembles fruit.
Pot of Gold received a honorable mention in the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1998.
