Opium is a 50/50 Sativa/Indica hybrid that was the result of a cross between a mostly Sativa mother and a mostly Indica ‘reversed’ female ‘father’. The Sativa mother was chosen for her potency and short flowering time. Opium can be grown indoors or outdoors, typically between 50 degrees North and South latitudes. Opium does well as a sea of green and multi-branch plant depending on the vegetation time.
Opium forms a giant top cola, just like the opium plants she was named after. Paradise Seeds says this strain forms the biggest colas they have ever seen. Opium does particularly well when grown in hydroponics or coco. Growers should prune the lower third of the plant to make manicuring easier, and to promote the most growth in the top flowers. Her buds are pale green and shine silver, mixed in with various tones. They resemble high quality marijuana buds. After curing, the fragrance given off of these buds becomes exponentially stronger.
Opium tastes and smells like a range of exotic fruit mixed in with gasoline. One phenotype of Opium has a particularly grape smell, and you can tell by the plants having purple and pink shades in their coloring before harvest. Opium has great buzz that will lift your mind off into outerspace, and best of all doesn’t make you crash when coming back to earth. Opium is a good daytime smoke, and you can tell this strain is definitely a Sativa hybrid. Opium gives you a soaring cerebral high that races your mind and brightens your day.
Opium has won second place in the High Times Cannabis Cup in the Seed Bank Sativa category in 2006.
