Kog has been growing this Old Mother Sativa marijuana strain for over 18 years in Australia. It’s a hardy plant that can withstand severe drought and will spring back to optimal health when water is provided by mother nature or the marijuana grower. During the flowering phase it also has great resistance to frost. This strain was well acclimatized to the climate of Australian which is at 30 degrees latitude and low elevation.
Old Mother Sativa is suspected to have Southeast Asian roots and was popular among hippies in Australia, particularly around the Hunter Valley region where it thrived in the 60s. It has a long growing season and shows the best results with full sun and planted in well drained soil. Old Mother Sativa has a wide and shallow root system rather than deep root systems which enables sandy soils and hilltops to be good locations for planting. This plant can grow as tall as 15 feet if the growing season is long enough. During a short growing season, like through winter, it will only remain about a foot tall and produce around an ouce per plant.
Old Mother Sativa can produce disappointing yield and results when put in the wrong environment or with novice growers, but if this plant is allowed to reach to her full potential it can yield a harvest of up to 5 pounds. It has a mellow, delicious, and fun smoke that makes a great time for a comedy. The high is very clear so it won’t leave you dozing off or locked to the couch. Old Mother Sativa is also easy to clone and can take on purple hues when grown in cooler areas.
