Nirvana originally created Kaya Gold as a mellow Sativa choice for novice indoor growers and outdoor growers that don’t have climates suitable for Sativa plants. They first picked a Mexican Sativa and crossed it with Top 44, which is Nirvana’s best selling commercial strain. Top 44 is popular in Holland due to easy cultivation. She also finished in over six weeks from flowering and is quite compact. They forced Top 44 to develop male flowers with giberellic acid then created a feminized Kaya strain out of it.
Kaya will finish in just 8 to 9 weeks indoors and around October outdoors in climates similar to Spain. Kaya handles heat well and pests don’t bother her. She is a great strain for a sea of green indoors due to the minimal branching. They stay just thick enough to carry the buds without support. When growing outdoors with soil Kaya can reach monstrous sizes. Kaya Gold grows best when you let her grow to about a meter tall before flowering. Flowering at that height will cause her to finish around 6 feet tall. Due to her strength and vitality you can grow her guerrilla style and leave her somewhere then find her in the fall when she’s ready for harvest.
Kaya is spicy and is a good change from skunk. The high is also different from skunk and is a head trip with a body buzz combined. Most people think of it as a trip back to the 70s. Due to the nature of the high it is easier to control so you might be able to smoke more than average. Kaya Gold is a great strain for gardeners and smokers due to its fantastic high and growing qualities.
