Island Sweet Skunk was brought to Federation Seeds by Vietnam veterans that settled on Vancouver Island in western Canada. California Skunk #1 from the 1970s is Island Sweet Skunk’s parents, Skunk #1 used to be referred to as “Sweet Skunk”, hence Island Sweet Skunk’s name. Island Sweet Skunk is Federation’s most highest yielding marijuana strain averaging yields outdoors of up to a pound per plant.

It takes about 8 weeks to finish in Canada, but can be ready to harvest after 7 weeks when it is grown at a higher altitude. Island Sweet Skunk has fluffy buds which allows for good air flow, which helps reduce the chance of mold. Rain water is easily dispersed by the plant and just a little breeze allows the colas to dry and remain healthy. As Island Sweet Skunk matures its buds become covered with long orange-yellow hairs.

Island Sweet Skunk grows fast, once it is put into flowering it can double in size when grown indoors. It has a straight-pole growth pattern with minimal side branching making Island Sweet Skunk great for a sea of green set up. The large colas produced by Island Sweet Skunk provide for a ‘sweet’ yield, even when grown in small spaces, but make sure you stalk the plant to prevent its stems from snapping. When vegetated for 2 months outdoors, Island Sweet Skunk has reached heights of 12 feet with a 3 pound yield that literally broke the branches off.

  1. Excellent strain very heavy yielder great taste and really sweet and smelly Odor control a must! If let go to 9 weeks I feel this strain has a more even high still leans alot to the sativa side. I always harvest by the tri’s I just found 9 weeks is when the tri’s start to really turn amber mostly cloudy like 90/10 amber. Overall score 9 out of 10.
