
Iso hash is hashish made using isopropyl alcohol to extract the trichomes and resin from the marijuana. Since isopropyl alcohol is 99% alcohol when it dissolves it should leave usable hashish that you can press it into your desired shape. You can also use this hash making method after you make bubble hash out of your marijuana first, then reusing it to make iso hash so that way you get the most out of your marijuana.
Materials Needed For Isopropyl Hash:
- Marijuana
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Glass baking dish
- Baking soda
- Reusable coffee filter
- Sealable glass jar
- Razor blade
Directions For Making Iso Hash
- If you’re reusing marijuana after making bubble hash, make sure it is completely dry. If you’re using fresh marijuana you can use like that. Mix the marijuana in a tightly sealed jar with the isopropyl alcohol, make sure there is about an inch more of the alcohol than marijuana.
- Shake the hell out of the jar.
- Repeat every five minutes for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Now pour the marijuana alcohol mixture through your reusable coffee filter into the glass baking dish, while pressing out all the liquid.
- Dispose of the marijuana, it’s useless now.
- In your glass baking dish, there should be a thick green and black liquid. Let it sit out for several hours or overnight so the alcohol evaporates.
- Once all the alcohol has evaporated, take your razor blade and scrape the dried hash off the inside of the baking dish. If you sprinkle a little baking soda on top of it first, it will prevent the hash from sticking to the razor blade.
- Take all the hash you’ve scraped off and put it into a pile of baking soda, using the baking soda like you use flour with dough, by covering all the sticky parts and folding it over several times. Mix it in well to solidify the hash.
- When the iso hash is thick and solid enough you can mold it into your desired shape.
- To store your iso hash, keep it in a container with a slight dusting of baking soda that will prevent it from sticking to the sides.
Congratulations! You’ve just made iso hash!

Just made iso hash for the first time last night and it turned out awesome. I used about 20 grams of stems and shake with 91% isopropyl. Shook it in a jar for 3-4 minutes then let it rest for 30 seconds. Did that process 4 or 5 times. Then filtered it through a regular mesh coffee filter then through the actual filter into a pyrex dish. Put it on a flat surface and got a hair dryer and started blowing it on a cool setting. Didnt do that for long casue it got annoying, I got a small fan and put it on high and let it dry out for about 6-7 hours. After all the iso had mainly evaporated, i took a razor blade and scraped what was there. I just want to note that i was thinking about doing the baking powder thing but im glad i didnt. I rolled it around it some kief and it turned out fine. Ive never heard of flattening the hash putting butane on it and burn it for a split second to burn off the rest of the alcohol. I would let time do its job or put a fan to it.
Just press a flat brick of iso hash using an iron on low. Wrap the hash in wax paper and then give a press to each side. You’ll end with a nice protective layer on the outside of the hash (hardened hash). The little heat can help with the psychoactive properties and the protective layer will block oxygen from reaching the inside.

I have a bell mason jar as my container to put the weed in with the alcohol. It’s a mixture of shake from pounds of dank ass bud, trim from dank ass bud, and little stems from that dank ass bud. And there is some dank ass buds in there. I have no idea how much this weighs, but it was 4 of the half size sandwhich bags full, im guessing about two zips. but its REALLY light, but mad crystals.
I am about to go to town to go to the stores to look for 99 % iso alcohol. No doubt wal-mart will have this.
I’m going to put just enough over the weed in the jar, shake it like said here, pour it out into a good strainer and squeeze the juices out with a potato masher into a pyrex dish. I will then set that dish, on the base of a coffee thing, so it can heat up, this will be in my bathroom, with a vent fan and the window open.

you know you dont have to use the coffe filter. youll get a larger quantity of hash if you just pour the mixture into the pan. at least thats what my dealer does and he has z greatest hash!

Like others said, absolutely do not use baking soda. Get some leaf or shake, dry it out, grind it up (a coffee grinder works great), sift it through a screen or with a kitchen sifter if you have one to remove any stem pieces, and use that. Or skip it entirely and just press the hash to firm it up.
You can use an Iron but do not use wax paper. Use parchment paper. People often think they’re the same thing but wax paper will either make your hash taste like crayons or will leave a coating of wax on your iron. Parchment paper is coated with food grade silicone (which is perfectly safe as long as you don’t heat it to more than 500F). Wax is also safe but it tastes nasty when you smoke it and will melt and transfer at much lower temps.
The best method for pressing hash (lacking a heated food press) is to wrap it in cellophane (make sure it’s real cellophane, not plastic labeled as cellophane), then wrap that in a wet damp shop towel, put a hot brick on top of that (put half a dozen or so on a charcoal grill), and then put a cinder block on top of that. Swap the hot bricks and mist the towel with hot water every 5 minutes or so, flip after 30 minutes and in an hour you’ll have a perfect block of hash.

From what I’ve read impure isopropyl contains leftover chemicals from the synthesis process, some of which can be toxic and that might not evaporate with the iso, I wouldnt risk that stuff. 99% iso is pretty cheap
dont leave weed in for more than 1 min, after that you start breaking down clorophile. use paper coffee filters, filter twice. if you make iso right it shouldnt be too sticky and you wont have to add baking powder. i make it with everclear to be safe, iso can have harmfull additives. i rinse the bud twice, first time 40 sec second time 10 seconds or less. i have also heard that putting the bud and the alcohol in the freezer for 24 hours befor you start also helps the quality of your out come. i never want to wait 24 hours lol. i use mexican weed for oil and i will get a little over a gram out of a half ounce. its black but when stretched thin or whipped it becomes a dark amber or translucent green.
Do NOT shake longer for 1 minute =/. That’s really bad …
I’ve made a few small batches of iso hash. The hash always turns out real gooie. doesn’t seem to matter how long it sits, anywhere the pile is deep it’s real gooie and stickie. Any one know why it’s so gooey? i’ve also found that is i use a disposable filter, the hash i scrape up is full melt. and the weed im using was the cheapest stuff my fav MOM had to offer. does the gooeyness mean i still have too much iso in my product? Either you are extracting to long. Or not purging long enough. If I were to make it i would use a three time extraction method. First strip I would let sit for 20 – 30 seconds giving it a gentle stir with a thick enough stem. Then filter it giving the plant matter a gentle squeeze. then repeat letting it sit for 30-40 seconds this time and then give the plant matter a little harder squeeze this time. By the way I would keep each batch separate. Third time I would let it sit for 40-55 seconds filter this time squeeze the s&$^ out of the plant matter. It will have a noticeable amount of chlorophyll in this batch along with more tar. It will have a strong plant smell as compared to the first two runs but it will also have more flavor and does the job. Anyhow after you evaporate alcohol and water You should have a crusty like substance that is you can scrap and roll into a hard as a rock shape of your choice. I know of someone who does a longer hour long extraction and his doesn’t get rock hard but damn close. So I would say try spreading it back out and re heat it let it cool and see if you notice a difference. I bet if you whipper yours then smelled it you would get a hint of alcohol. I might also pile mine up heat it so it puddles up then stir in kief to make a more pliable, easier to work with substance but then again that would lower the purity levels after all the more glass like it is the cleaner it is. If I where to make it i would use buds and trim but run them separately and I wouldn’t break up the buds on the first run. Those runs the end result should be almost tasteless if smoked off a nail but will hit you in the head and bend you over.
