Chronic is a term that has been used for years to describe any type of really potent marijuana, and it all came from the creation of this super potent marijuana strain. Chronic used to be a predominately Indica strain, but has been improved upon with a Sativa cross to stabilize the strain around 2000. The cross improved the potency and the resin content of Chronic, while leaving it’s tantalizingly sweet aroma intact.

Chronic is super easy to grow and is known for it’s impressive yields. Chronic can produce up to 600 grams per square meter under 600 watt grow lights, and can both be achieved by soil growing and hydro methods. Hydroponic solutions require much less time for the plants to be in their vegetative stage, averaging about 3 days. While in soil it takes about a week for them to get rooted in soil.

Chronic displays two typical phenotypes when being grown. Either the plants are short with fat buds, or can be thinner with more elongated, slightly fluffy buds on taller plants. The colas from Chronic can become extremely large, growing about as big as a typical forearm. Clipping this plant is not recommended as you will end up getting reduced yields. Over the years Chronic has become more stable, uniform, and more often resembling the taller plant type. The marijuana buds are also much more denser and resinous than ever have been before. It flowers early, easily shows its gender, and has decent sized preflowers along the stem at the base of the fan leaves.

The Chronic high is a full strength high that has encompasses the full range of effects, starting in the mind, and then gradually moves to the body. The wildflower scent and flavor is a great feature of Chronic, and has no stench of pungency. The odor from Chronic is slight during the grow stages, and when dried and cured properly the smell can be enhanced to a nice, sweet, remember-able smell.

Chronic has won 3rd place in the 1994 High Times Cannabis Cup in the hydro division.
