Bubble Gum originated in Indiana during the 1970s. It was then taken to Holland during the 1990s after spreading throughout the United States. They developed a stable interbred variety while it was in Holland. Originally named Bubble Gum from the beginning, this marijuana strain has a reputation for it’s sweetness, it was so popular that the name has been for many different kinds of sweet tasting seeds and weed.

Bubble Gum has two typical plant structures: an elongated pole plant that has a main branch and minimal side branching, while the other structure is of a more natural evergreen tree shape that has much more branching from the main stem. The plants that have no side branching should be forced to flower early and trimmed to prevent the plant from growing too tall. The branchless variety of Bubble Gum is perfect for a sea of green setup. The ones that do exhibit branching should be left alone to produce greater yields even though you will have less plants per square meter.

Bubble Gum is a slow starter that needs extra germination time. Don’t let Bubble Gum vegetate for tool or she will stretch alot during flowering. Serious Seeds recommends that you grow this strain with indoor soil methods for a more bountiful harvest. Bubble Gum has large, beefy colas along with stems that are strong enough to support the colas. The colas get red hues as the plant is finishing. The smell of Bubble Gum, believe it or not actually really does smell like bubble gum, and isn’t just a hint of it.

Bubble Gum has won 3rd place in the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1994 for best coffee shop product, 2nd place for the best bio product and 2nd place in the overall Cannabis Cup in 1995, and won 2nd place again in 1999 for the overall Cannabis Cup.
