This basic PVC pipe bong that we’re going to show you how to make may require a trip to the hardware store or a trip to the garage. This is a great bong to make, can be used over and over again due to its great hitting ability. This will take a bit longer to make than our other pipes, but the extra time is worth it.
What You Need For A Basic Pipe Bong:
- One 18″ length of 1 1/2″ diameter ID ABS or PVC Pipe
- One 1/4″ HB x 1/4″ F Brass Hose Barb-To-Pipe Adapter
- Screen
- One 1 1/2″ Pipe Cap
- Drill
- 3/8″ Drill Bit
- Sandpaper
How To Make Your Basic Pipe Bong
- Drill two 3/8″ holes on opposite sides of your PVC pipe about 6″ up from the bottom end of the pipe. Angle one of the holes downward for the stem and bowl. You can more easily drill the holes by drilling a starter hole first with a smaller drill bit.
- Using your sandpaper, sand the ends of the PVC pipe until they are smooth.
- Insert your hose barb-to-pipe adapter (which will be the bowl) into your vinyl hose (which is the stem).
- Insert the vinyl hose into the pipe, angling it towards the bottom of the pipe.
- Then insert your screen into the bowl.
- Place the pipe cap on the bottom end of the PVC pipe.
You can fill up your pipe bong with water or just use it like it is. It works great for a water bong if you pipe cap is water proof, if it aint you can use hot glue to seal it up or duct tape. To smoke out of your pipe bong, fill the bowl with your bud, put your finger over the carb and inhale through the large hole at the top of pipe (duh).

Just so everyone knows, PVC doesn’t withstand high temperatures at all, its vaporization point is around 130 degrees F and smoke is far hotter than that.
You will possibly get cancer if you smoke out of this.

As long as you don’t burn the PVC, everything’s fine. If the smoke was hotter than 130 degrees it would burn your lungs, since it doesn’t, it also won’t burn the pvc.
